Programs

The CMRC is composed of three major program areas:

The Harbor Bight Policy Initiative integrates science and public policy in the Harbor Bight through social science research, outreach, and collaborative decision-making to improve existing information networks and assist in the development of equitable coastal policies at the Federal, state, & local levels.

The Sustainable Coasts Program focuses on research and education to improve the integration of social and ecological information within coastal communities, and will work to facilitate an information exchange among coastal communities worldwide to increase knowledge and understanding.

The Conservation & Access Network facilitates the acquisition and restoration of coastal habitat in the Harbor Bight by engaging scientists, private enterprises, non-profit organizations, and the general public in the decision-making process, and by identifying financial and volunteer resources available for coastal conservation.
