Conservation & Access Network

The Conservation & Access Network works to facilitate the acquisition and restoration of coastal habitat in the New York – New Jersey Harbor Bight by engaging scientists, private enterprises, non-profit organizations, and the general public in the decision-making process. The Conservation & Access Network is working to establish a Coastal Conservation & Access Fund to increase the quality and quantity of ecological resources available.

Public access and enjoyment of coastal resources is at the core of increasing awareness of the coastal marine environment issues in the Harbor Bight. The Conservation & Access Network strives to increase the opportunities available for access and enjoyment by investing in the acquisition and restoration of valuable ecological resources. In addition, the Conservation & Access Network works to enhance the existing knowledge base of information regarding public access especially as pertaining to recreational activities.

The Conservation & Access Network’s vision is to invest in the acquisition and restoration of coastal habitats while establishing centralized information sources for public access in the Harbor Bight that lead to increase connection with the coastal environment.
