The Conservation & Access Network works to facilitate the acquisition and
restoration of coastal habitat in the New York – New Jersey Harbor Bight
by engaging scientists, private enterprises, non-profit organizations,
and the general public in the decision-making process.
The Conservation & Access Network is working to establish a Coastal
Conservation & Access Fund to increase the quality and quantity of
ecological resources available.
Public access and enjoyment of coastal resources is at the core of
increasing awareness of the coastal marine environment issues in the
Harbor Bight. The Conservation & Access Network strives to increase
the opportunities available for access and enjoyment by investing
in the acquisition and restoration of valuable ecological resources.
In addition, the Conservation & Access Network works to enhance the
existing knowledge base of information regarding public access
especially as pertaining to recreational activities.
The Conservation & Access Network’s vision is to invest in the
acquisition and restoration of coastal habitats while establishing
centralized information sources for public access in the
Harbor Bight that lead to increase connection with the coastal environment.
