About Us

The CMRC is dedicated to facilitating the creation of an improved framework for managing natural resources in the New York-New Jersey Harbor Bight.

By working with a diverse range of partners, the CMRC studies coastal management and science activities in the Harbor Bight and works to establish a dialog with the government agencies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and foundations that are currently involved with coastal marine conservation activities in our region.

The following priority issues have been identified as areas of critical importance to our mission:
  • Conservation of Coasts, Estuaries, and Nearshore Habitats
  • Public Access to Coastal Resources
  • Water Quality Improvements
  • Revitalization of Urban Waterfronts and Ports

The CMRC also focuses on outreach and education to policy makers, research scientists, and the general public to enhance understanding of the issues currently facing participants in the coastal marine management process.

Additionally, the CMRC performs in-depth research into the policy, planning, and management of coastal resources in the Harbor Bight and acts to further conservation management planning to ensure that efficient and effective policies are developed.
